Big Springs

First ECT took some force but it was noisy when it broke. Second ECT did not break at the same layer. The layer at 162 cm felt a little faceted in the pit wall. Looking at the crystals, it was hard to see much faceting.

Emigration 5780'

Snowpit dug with Ben Williams on a northwest facing aspect adjacent to an avalanche that was triggered at the same elevation. Avalanche was on a west facing slope (35 degrees) that was triggered by an animal. Wind-drifted snow avalanche 12" deep average, 30' wide and ran 200' feet. There was another smaller avalanche lower on the slope on a similar cross loaded feature. Similar Dimensions- ran about 100' downslope. Both avalanches dispersed into the brush.
