This pit was dug on an similar slope to an adjacent avalanche accident.

Wind had loaded this zone and then stripped the surface snow away.

West facing and solars aspects stayed dry till just about 330 or 4pm. Still good skiing on solars. Temperatures show a healing snowpack and test results verify in this location. One collapse lower in the flats on a shaded aspect earlier in the morning. Melting surface hoar and NSF mixed with broken PP on surface. Clear skies and cold temps previous night.

Dug below and to the right (north) of a slide triggered the day before. The avalanche appeared to break in an area with a thinner snowpack, mostly on part of the slope that was not wind loaded. The wind loaded part under the corniced ridgeline appeared to have avalanhched sometime before.
