A very thin layer of well developed facets, but not thick enough to cover ground features in this spot.

The basal facet layer is so thin, in most locations it's not continuous over the terrain, broken by rocks and vegetation. I think there are only isolated places, with smooth ground like rock slabs or grass, where you could connect enough snow for a slide to fail on the depth hoar.

Multiple collapses heard once off machine. Continued to hear collapsing during the entire pit.
