Two Oceans N

Advisory called it low all around, and this pit seemed to back that up. Fresh cornices gave with some convincing, and wind loading was definitely present, but the snow seems to have bonded well. 3-4" of new snow overnight. Much of the new snow was stiff-ish with rime. Previous to that, a lot of wind pounded the snow from Friday into a cohesive layer. No results from CT/ECT tests however. The layers from 125cm down were extremely consolidated, and no amount of prying or bodyslamming created a failure. Some of the layers above that are questionable.

Radio Tower Shoulder

Moderate danger at higher elevations for wind slabs today. Small, but increasing size and probability likely. Snowing since the early hours of the morning, landing on a variety of surfaces: drifted accumulations from Friday, scoured crust, facets, etc. 4-8" forecasted for the day, with the 8-9000' temps in the teens (*F). Wind speed average 15mph, no transport in sheltered areas but minor loading on ridges was observed. Pit test: ECTx, but the shovel shear showed a weak area at 120cm from ground-- a non-cohesive slab on the crust from the late Oct. high pressure period.
