This pit location was chosen to be representative of mid elevation NE terrain. 40 cm of advanced facets exist near the ground. Structure is a big red flag but time since loading has increased stability. For Now...Block failed after 30+ taps.
This pit location was bare ground prior to xmas storms therefore no old PWL. Snow near the ground was moist. Good representation of SE aspects in favored snow location in Central Wasatch.
This profile resembles many other places including north facing slopes, the only difference is that the fc'ed/DH layer at 22 cm above the ground is thicker and often has larger grains.
