SE facing slope but shaded by mature trees for part of the day. Surprised to see facets this week on a SE facing slope but I think it was a function of the shade from the big trees.
Obvious layers of weak facets. I did a cross slope PST when my ECT did not break at all. It was a steep slope, so this does not work as well as it would on a flatter slope or doing a proper PST....but it did propagate across and I suspect a regular PST would have propagated to the end after a 30-40 cm cut. Just speculation though.
Similar test results in several other places. Surface hoar at 76.2 is unreactive. Seems to be healing slightly and the slab above it has changed a lot. With continued warm weather it may be shallow enough to heal. Deeper facets remain a concern if we get a load. They are still incredibly weak and you sink into them easily.
