I was quite surprised that the ECT column failed on isolation.

Pit in forest opening high on "Sloth Ridge" route. In esteemed company of Paige P. (UAC) and Frank W. (Snowbasin Patrol).

Snowpack isothermal, varied from moist to wet based upon structure. 10cm supportable crust from rain event on 22 March. Interesting to conduct tests on structured isothermal snow that has seen recent wet slab avalanching. Exhaustive pit analysis not conducted; more interested in comparing ECT and PST results for known culprit in many avalanches this late winter/early spring.

not so sure about test accuracy due to depth of weak layer >100 cm deep...hard to perform tests.
