Emigration 5780'

Snowpit dug with Ben Williams on a northwest facing aspect adjacent to an avalanche that was triggered at the same elevation. Avalanche was on a west facing slope (35 degrees) that was triggered by an animal. Wind-drifted snow avalanche 12" deep average, 30' wide and ran 200' feet. There was another smaller avalanche lower on the slope on a similar cross loaded feature. Similar Dimensions- ran about 100' downslope. Both avalanches dispersed into the brush.

White Pine NNW 10,720

Roller balling noted on NNW slopes below 9k. Dug in wind zone. 100' below was soft snow surface. wind slabs isolated to skis on this slope breaking up before going anywhere. Deteriorating wind slab with sastrugi on the surface.
