Crown profile at accident site in Boss Canyon. Avalanche occurred on 12/26/17. A rider was dragged through trees, mostly buried, and his ankle pinned between his sed and a large tree.
Crown face of snowmobile triggered avalanche. Triggered from low angle terrain in the run out zone. Alpha angle was 23 degrees. Heavily wind loaded. Crown averaged 2-3 feet deep was 6 feet deep in some places.
Very similar snowpack structure on all shady aspects. Minimal avalanche terrain in this area so not much activity, but lots of cracking on steep road cuts.
