Dug just below the runout zone of a recent moose triggered avalanche.

HS is barely one meter in late Jan. in one of the snowiest places in the Wasatch. Wild. As will the avalanches be if a load is ever applied to this structure. A couple of deteriorating crusts still exist in between progressively weaker facets toward the ground.

Troubling structure for future stability. Recent winds created a P hard wind crust near the surface capping mostly facets to the ground. Crust varies in strength across aspects but is strong enough to hold a larger load before failing. That is, if it ever snows on top of it.

Very representative of the snowpack on many slopes except due south. Differences are mainly the crust on top and the crust at 29 cm. We have seen many avalanches breaking in facets on top of the crust at 29 cm.
