Natural and artificial triggered avalanches observed on slopes with similar snow structure, but were on slopes steeper than 35deg. and many broke along the steep base of cliffs.
This pit was dug in the flank of a recent persistent slab avalanche. We got stable results in our stability tests on the layer the slide failed on. This is likely due to the layer having already collapsed.
Unstable PST and CPST results, but I would say those are false unstable results. Avalanches are unlikely on that old NSF layer and stability is good. The NSF layer does not have a widespread distribution and has not produced recent avalanches. CPST 31/100 end
