Observers- Carbonari/Flint. Pit only dug to 85 cm.
Natural Avalanche occurred ~100 feet from pit while observers were in pit. SS-N-R1-D1-I.
Suspected failure on new snow old snow interface.
Observers- Hannan, Carbonari. Brush in bottom of pit from 75 cm down, so no information taken below 75. Skiing wind crust all the way down the slope was challenging...
Pit in an area that is usually wind loaded and would expect to have a deeper snowpack. Strong winds from the last couple of days have scoured the area and created an impressive wind crust.

No identifiable weaknesses above or below early Dec ice layer.
Some small surface hoar development identified between 5000 and 6500 feet in sheltered areas.
