Telluride Bear Creek

Below treeline terrain is thin and weak. This location has very weak snow near the surface resting on a relatively hard wind slab on top of depth hoar. The wind slab can hold a much larger load and if there is ever a big slab put on top could fail at the ground.

Commodore Approach

Storm snow is still adjusting. 50cm since 2/6, sits on 10cm from 2/4 above MF crust and NSFC below. Density inversion in the newest storm snow is still sensitive and reactive to moderate taps in stability tests. Lots of snow in a short time = unstable..but settling.
