The snowpack is shallow in this area and consists of mostly facets with a new dense slab on top. Not currently unstable but this structure will be suspect with the next significant load.

With Ryan Mathis - Telluride Ski Patrol Structure is deteriorating. Large temperature gradient near the ground is driving faceted crystal and depth hoar growth. Currently stable but if these conditions persist, the next big load greater than 1.5-2 inches SWE in a short duration may tip the scales toward a deep slab cycle.
