Three ECTs performed.
1/5 for Red Flags. The one red flag was for Unstable snow (one out of three ECTs had propagation, ECTP21@84).
2/7 for ALPTRUTh. One for Path and one for Unstable (again the ECTP21@84).
Dug by instructor and KPAC Level 1 Course. Average HS in this area was ~65 to 80cm.
Note A: This ice layer was not ubiquitous in the snowpack. Appears to have formed during the warming and raining events during first few days of Feb 2021. Note B: Generally this depth hoar was 5-15cm think. Where measured for this pit it was 40cm deep between two boulders. Generally the depth hoar was only 5cm to 20cm thick. Generally, many boulders protruded into the 1f layer above the depth hoar. Note C: occurred where depth hoar was ~10cm thick and HS was ~75cm.
