Pit dug in below treeline terrain at site of natural snow surface cracking. Widespread skier triggered collapsing and cracking in the general area. Cracking went well down into the facet layer.
Pit dug just off ridge in moderately wind loaded terrain. This area had been previously wind scoured by NE winds and did not have well developed facets.
Pit dug in near treeline terrain. Interesting PST results that did not match expected after performing CT and ECT. Cracking in the area was very minor and localized, extending no more than 15 cm from skis.
Pit dug just off ridgeline in a wind loaded area. 1 whumpf experienced later during tour in upper elevation terrain with a hard wind slab/faceted layer combo.
