This snowpack displays that the top 10 or so cm of snow is sitting onto of a melt freeze layer collapsing 140cm down on a persistent grain layer. From 140cm down the snow pack is much stronger comprised of mostly melt form grains with the temperature working its way to isothermal conditions.
